FID – Chapter 243.1

A lowly maid

Feng Mohan did not do anything all morning. He paced around his own bedchamber and ran to the entrance of the palace from time to time to have a look.

By noon, the person he’d been waiting to come made no appearance, making him so furious all over.

Aunt Liu had just arrived, and his imperial uncle left him behind.

In the past, he’d been hoping that his uncle wouldn’t be so strict with him. Now that no one was supervising him, he should be ecstatic, but this result wasn’t what he wanted. He also wanted to play with Aunt Liu.

Why should he be left in the palace and not take him with him?

Seeing the palace maidservants, eunuchs, and even the guards patrolling around, Feng Mohan coldly returned to the main hall.

Footsteps echoed outside the hall.

Feng Mohan’s ears twitched and he looked back at the eunuch who walked in. “Is it my Imperial Uncle who has come?”

Right after he asked, he remembered that his uncle didn’t need to inform him when he came here. If he came with Aunt Liu, he needn’t ask a eunuch to pass the message.

Sure enough, he heard the eunuch reply, “Your Majesty, it is Miss Fu who is asking for an audience outside the hall.”

“Aunt Zheng?” Feng Mohan froze for a moment, “Let her in.”

The frequency of Fu Yuzheng’s appearance in the palace were quite a few. When he was young, Fu Yuzheng took care of him for a period of time. Later, she would occasionally visit him. So even though her status was low, she had the privilege to go in and out of the palace.

The woman’s figure had already appeared at the entrance of the main hall while he was lost in thought.

“Aunt zheng, what brings you here?” Feng Mohan asked casually. In front of Fu Yuzheng, he need not put up a show.

“His Royal Highness went out with Miss Liu. I had nothing to do in the mansion, so I made some of Your Majesty’s favorite cakes and thought of sending them over to you.” Fu Yuzheng put down the food basket she was carrying and took out the pastries, then her voice lowered a bit. “I need to go to Qingning Palace later.”

Feng Mohan sat up straight, “There are guests in Nanling Palace and a woman among them, so I know he can’t contain himself there.”

From the age of nine, when he slowly came into contact with political affairs, his imperial uncle generally briefed him about Fu Yuzheng. He knew that she was a counterpart.

Their enemies plotted against them countless times, and they seemed to have narrowly escaped, but in fact, Fu Yuzheng had long been in cahoots with them.

On the other hand, the real crux of his uncle’s plans was unknown to them.

Thus, Fu Yuzheng’s identity as an agent was still qualified.

“The matter between the King and Miss Liu has spread throughout the capital. She summoned me and should inquire about further details of Miss Liu’s identity. I will speak at my discretion.”

Feng Mohan smiled. “Aunt zheng is a wise person. I’ll entrust it to you then.”

Only after seeing the woman leave Qiande Palace did Feng Mohan put his smile away and sighed on the table again.

Imperial Uncle had a lot of stalls to attend to. He worried people.

With his knowledge of that one, he was afraid it wouldn’t be long before his Imperial Uncle’s marriage would be on the agenda again in the royal court.

Those people would never let his Imperial Uncle marry an ordinary woman, depriving them of any benefits.

The foxes in the capital, coveting his Imperial Uncle’s position and Princess Nanling, were too many. He wondered if Aunt Liu could stand it.

When Fu Yuzheng arrived at Qingning Palace, there were people inside, talking to Consort Liu with smiles.

The granddaughter of the left minister, Zuo Xuan, and the eldest Miss of the Fu family, Fu Yuxian!
